Latest News: David Schepisi wins the Club Championship

Schepisi won his game with a two move knock out combination. He played …e5 which forced white’s minor piece on to e3 where …d4 forked two minor pieces. This of itself was enough to win but Schepisi was able to repeat the process of winning a minor piece to make his victory assured.
Barrow won quickly when Healey made a rare opening mistake omitting …Nc6 and allowing e5 which won material.
Mollard won his game against Peter O’Connor after giving away a piece for two pawns and having to rely on some inaccurate defence from O’Connor to snare the one point.
Andre Sardone won the Reserves section for the third year in a row by securing a draw with Attila Barasits. This gave Sardone a winning score of 4.5/5. Michael Cic came second on four points and Lyle Pyers third with three points.
The Club welcomed new member, Nima Nemati, a medical practitioner originally from Iran and now a Bendigo resident.
