New members are introduced to the Club through an induction program lasting up to 7 weeks. There are usually four such programs each year.
The next program commences on Saturday 4th AUGUST 2012 at 12.30pm. This initial session is for 1.5 hours, and prospective members are required to bring a completed membership application form, a National Police Certificate (or a copy of their current WA Firearms Licence) and a $120 nomination fee. They will be required to attend the Club every Saturday following at 11.30am for up to 6 weeks to complete the handgun safety training program. These weekly safety training sessions take approximately 1 hour.
Applicants wishing to participate in only Rifle or Bench Rest Disciplines do not have to attend the formal induction and training program, as those disciplines conduct their own firearms safety and safe handling programs. Once they are members, if they then wish to shoot pistol matches other than Bench Rest, they must complete the formal induction handgun safety training program.
Members of other shooting clubs in WA, interstate or overseas may be accepted into the Club without having to complete the induction program. However, all new members must undergo a safety test prior to commencing shooting.
Applications for membership are not automatically accepted. Applicants must be of good character and reputation, and provide a National Police Certificate (which can be applied for at a Post Office), or hold a current WA Firearms Licence. The Police do not usually grant a firearms licence where the applicant has a prior criminal conviction or is the subject of any order relating to violence or firearms.
The induction program covers:
* safe firearm handling, transport and storage
* individual responsibilities and obligations
* club, range and match procedures
* correct shooting techniques
Annual Club fees for full members are $165 and Pensioners $140. Juniors over the age of 12 may also join the Club, but their parent/s or guardian/s must also join at the same time and are fully responsible for the Junior while at the Club. All new members are required to pay a one-off non-refundable nomination fee of $120 when joining, and pay pro-rata membership fees subject to where the date they join falls in the Club's financial year.
